The Pandemic That Saved You

I know that you are reading this title and saying, “What do you mean, saved me?” Twenty-twenty was supposed to have been the year for things to be different. For things to be better than all of the other years before. We have been feeling it and saying it for months before the new year came in; “2020 is the year of vision”, etc. But we didn’t see this coming, but God did. God allowed everything to be taken from us that we valued more than Him in a matter of a minutes, days, and months. Our image; hair salon, nail salon, barber shops, clothing stores. Our wealth; our jobs, the stock market, 401-K. Our religion; the church. Our education; the schools. Our health; COVID-19. What do we have left? Jesus and family. The very thing we did not have time for. He took us back to the basics. Back to the things we have allowed to take the place of Him. I know many lives have been lost through this pandemic and I pray these families find peace in the storm. This pandemic has saved marriages, saved families, and saved churches all because God took us back to the beginning. He took us back to Him. He is tired of marriages not taken seriously, families taken for granted. and churches functioning in tradition and becoming lovers of themselves and not worshiping in spirit and in truth-(the word). God is disappointed and tired!

When my brother passed in 2005, I was put in a placed where I had to do inventory on myself. I had to ask myself, “If I died today, where would I go?” I had to repent to God because I had not been faithful to Him like I should have. I was more focused on religion than a relationship with Him. Some of you have lost a loved one to COVID-19 and I pray that their death will not be in vain. In Joshua 24:14-15 it reads, “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The choice is yours.

God is giving us a choice and chance today to get it right. As I watched how the tornadoes touched down in Eufaula and destroyed the 20 homes and not 20 lives, all I could do was thank God! We have got to get serious about our relationship with God. We are not paying any attention to the signs and what we should do (2 Chronicles 7:13-15). They are coming back to back with a feeling of no room to recover. I do believe that God is restoring and revealing some things during this process, some lives will be taken, and some will be sparred. And as Easter approaches on April 12, 2020 let’s not focus on eggs, baskets, or new outfits. Let’s focus on Jesus. Let’s get back to the real meaning of Easter which is the resurrection of Jesus. My question to you is, during this season of uncertainty, panic, fear, will this pandemic save you?
