As I reflect on the month of November and after having our Gracefully Broken Community Awareness at our church, the word God continues to give me is … It’s Time. This word has been in my spirit for a while and as I continue to see on local and national news of women speaking out against sexual abuse and misconducts in the workplace and in our homes, I say to you It’s Time! The voiceless has now found their voice. Where power, manipulation, and control created a platform for FEAR, has now created a platform for the FEARLESS. We no longer have the fear of people knowing what happened. We no longer have the fear of people rationalizing or justifying why it happened or why it took it so long for us to come out. We no longer have fear that has kept us quiet for so long that has hindered us as child, mother, spouse; as a woman. It’s time!
It’s time for we as parents to pay attention to the signs and not be so caught up in our own lives to miss it because we are too busy with our phones, our jobs, or our spouses. It’s Time.
It’s time for the mothers in our homes not to choose their husbands, significant others, uncles, friends of the family, brothers, nephews and even our pastors over the victimized little girl that comes to you and say “He did this to me!” It’s Time.
It’s time to stop accepting inappropriate speaking or conversations as terms of endearment as the normal behavior. Yes, open my door because you are a gentlemen, but keep your eyes, your hands, and your sexual connotations to yourself! It’s Time.
In Ecclesiastes chapter three verse one it says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” It’s Time.
Verse two says: “…a time to plant and a time to uproot.” That sin which was planted in every person that has been sexually abused must be uprooted. It’s Time.
Verse seven says:”…a time to be silent and a time to speak.” No more being imprisoned by our own silence because the truth shall set us free. It’s Time.
